Finding time to be refreshed, renewed and refocused.
I love, love, love spending time with God. He reveals things to us in a way that only He can. Today I wanna talk to you about observing the Sabbath. Yes, that day that we are to set aside for “rest” to “rest”. But what are we resting from? The days leading up to the Sabbath, rest from our minds, our kids, our jobs. Do you know that the Sabbath isn’t merely a day for you to take rest physically? It is a day that has been preserved by God for us. Did you hear me? Read that again. The Sabbath is a day that has been established by God to preserve us. Let’s put that into context. Those of us who observe the Sabbath remembers to rest; it’s what we been taught, but catch this, it’s all about God. It’s always been about God and spending time with Him. We are the ones who have made it to be what we want it to be. The preserver does more than just follow the simple rule that has been put in place by man but follows God’s desires and embraces His purpose in the rest. God wants us to spend one day out of the week “Saturday” to invite him in and allow Him to blow a fresh wind cleansing us from everything that we have taken in from the week. This is the time to exhale all of those impurities that is not of God. You see my friends the Sabbath is about pausing and connecting with God without the chaos of our routine, allowing the rhythm of God to move us. In this rhythm we are able to hear His voice, as He reveals the places that we’ve gotten off track with our behaviors or our attitudes or speech and so forth. Being quiet and resting in God allows us to see the places where were going our own way, the areas that are more self-pleasing than God-pleasing. So, I encourage you today woman of God let’s start to be a preserver of the Sabbath so that we can rest and delight in God so He can give our soul the freedom it desperately needs.
Dear God, thank you for thinking of me, thank you for setting aside a day of the week to be embraced by you to exhale all things self-pleasing and inhale things that are God-pleasing. Thank you for showing me how important it is to create a place for freedom and rest. In Jesus Name. Amen.
